PASS THE GRAVY, NOT THE BABY

This time of year can be hectic, especially with a baby. Here are some things that carrying can help with over the festive period.

🎄 SHOPPING! Manage to pop to the shops relatively stress free with your wee one safe in a sling. Have two hands to navigate a trolly or just grab a basket.

🎄COOKING! Time in the kitchen, get wee ones involved safely with a sling or carrier. If you are baking with older children, have baby in the sling. They will be safe without grabbing items and be able to watch closely. Also if you are the festive chef, keeping wee one close to you keeps you from worrying about them.

🎄 SET ALARMS! The whole festive period can be busy. Coming and going, visiting, off to panto, events ect. So you may forget when baby last fed from breast or bottle. Set a regular alarm at least every 3hrs. That way you can ensure that baby is feeding regularly. It can be easy to miss cues if you are busy or they are being cuddled by family.

🎄 DON'T MISS NAPS! Keeping some kind of routine is important so try not to miss naps. If you know your wee one is due for one, pop into a quiet room. If you are visiting and nowhere safe for them to lay down then use your sling. Less distractions will allow them so settle on you and sleep.

🎄 SENSORY OVERLOAD! Christmas can be overwhelming at the best of times. But when you are a baby or toddler everything is louder, brighter and busier! They may enjoy watching lights and listening to music but at a point it can get too much. Providing that safe space, on you in a sling can allow them to settle and feel secure.

🎄 CUDDLES! Everyone wants to cuddle the baby, especially at a first Christmas. You don't want it to turn into pass the baby! If you are a first time parent it can be a bit overwhelming and you want to be with baby. Having them in a sling allows people to see them without all the extra stimulation. Also all the extra bugs are going around with coughs and sniffles. Keep baby safe in the sling.

🎄 Walking off the turkey. If you are planning a walk after lunch or even the next day, a sling or carrier can make it easier. No need to take prams when the car is already full of gifts, a sling or carrier takes up no space at all and can even be used for other family members.

Why will you carry?
